Zabuton (座布団) is a traditional Japanese cushion with nearly 1000 years of history. Originally, zabuton indicated high status and was only used by people such as the emperor and members of the imperial court, or the most revered of Buddhist monks.
Now, zabuton is part of daily life and is central to the Japanese omotenashi culture of hospitality. Our Kyoto zabuton is made true to the traditions of our unique city but has been also been adapted for greater stability and comfort.
The Kyoto Zabuton Cushion has been gaining popularity for meditational use.
