Second Life: Series 11 !
The wait is over! Series 11 has officially dropped!
In recent years, the practice of meditation and zazen has continued to gain momentum worldwide. In Western countries, it is widely embraced as mindfulness, valued for its ability to reduce stress and enhance productivity.
As stress and emotional challenges continue to increase in modern society, meditation—known for its potential to reset the mind, relax both body and spirit, and improve focus—is becoming an essential daily practice. By turning awareness inward, people are rediscovering the importance of maintaining mental well-being, and the demand for meditation as a tool for inner balance continues to grow.
As interest in meditation and zazen continues to grow, we at Takaokaya have been receiving more inquiries like this:
“Which Kangu is suitable for meditation?”
Since we do not create products specifically designed for meditation, we cannot honestly offer a definitive answer as to which item is the most suitable. However, every Kangu we make is carefully crafted with one purpose in mind: to help you relax.
We believe that kutsurogi—a state of deep relaxation—and mindfulness are closely connected through a calm and relaxed state of mind.
The following collection features items that our international customers often choose and enjoy during their meditation practice.
These cushions and pillows can be used in a similar way to a zafu (坐蒲), a traditional Japanese meditation cushion used for zazen (seated meditation). A zafu gently raises the hips to support an upright posture and provides stable, comfortable seating.
While we are not specialized zafu makers, several of our Kangu are crafted as tools for relaxation and can be comfortably used during zazen practice, offering gentle support and comfort for moments of meditation and mindfulness.
In zazen and meditation practice, two different cushions are often used together. This thoughtful setup helps create a more comfortable, relaxed, and stable environment for meditation.
One cushion gently raises the hips, making it easier to sit upright with a stable posture. The other is placed beneath the crossed legs to provide cushioning, easing pressure where the body meets the floor and allowing for greater comfort, even during longer periods of practice.
In this collection, we propose a well-balanced meditation set by pairing Kangu with Kangu, thoughtfully designed to support moments of calm, comfort, and focus.
Because the inner filling of our pillows cannot be washed, we recommend using them with a cover. Each cover is removable for easy care and washing, and is available in a range of colors to suit your style.
