Tatami
As shiki futons have grown in popularity, we have been receiving more and more inquiries—most often about tatami.
“Do you sell tatami mats?”
Perhaps it is because tatami and shiki futons are so often imagined as being used together. In response to these requests, we have begun offering tatami as part of our collection.
To suit different spaces and lifestyles, our tatami are available in both unit-style and foldable designs.
Chairs
We offer two types of chairs.
The first is a zaisu, a legless chair designed to be placed directly on the floor and used with a zabuton cushion. While a zabuton alone does not provide back support, the zaisu includes a backrest, allowing you to sit more comfortably.
The second option is a stool designed specifically for use with our Ojami cushion. By placing the Ojami on top, it can be used as a chair. Alternatively, the Ojami can be placed on the floor as a cushion while the stool serves as a small table—offering two ways to enjoy its use.
Noren
Noren are traditional Japanese split curtains, gently hung in doorways or windows to soften light, invite airflow, and create a sense of separation. Long used by shops as a quiet sign of welcome, they carry both function and character.
Takaokaya’s Hikizome Noren bring this tradition into everyday living—used as light shade curtains, subtle room dividers, or decorative accents that add a calm Japanese atmosphere to modern interiors.
