Kake Futon Insert and Frame Style Cover Set
Where Tradition Meets Modern Comfort
This set is a modern take on the traditional Japanese kake futon comforter, featuring both a futon insert and our signature frame-style cover.
Our off-white futon insert is individually filled by hand to strike the perfect balance between exceptional warmth and natural breathability. Crafted using the exact same hand-filling techniques as our classic futon, it features a clean quilting finish in a versatile solid color. The natural cotton traps cozy heat on chilly nights while actively releasing excess moisture, ensuring you stay perfectly comfortable without feeling overheated.
This set comes complete with Frame-Style Cover. Inspired by iconic Japanese silhouettes, it frames your choice of personal pattern in soft, unbleached kibata cotton. Enjoy a stylish, well-protected futon that effortlessly elevates your bedroom in every season—with no need to replace the insert. By pairing our expertly crafted futon directly with this traditional frame cover, we’ve created a seamless blend of heritage style and everyday functionality.
Transform your bedtime routine into a tranquil ritual with the ultimate balance of softness, airflow, and artisan quality.
Size
| Size | Thickness | |
|---|---|---|
| Single | W150 × L210 cm (59" × 82") | 5 cm (2.0") |
| Semi-Double | W170 × L210 cm (67" × 82") | 5 cm (2.0") |
| Double | W190 × L210 cm (75" × 82") | 5 cm (2.0") |

*All sizes and thicknesses are approximate.
*Please note: In Japan, futon sizes are traditionally based on the measurements of the outer fabric casing before it is stuffed. Accordingly, the sizes listed in our store refer to these dimensions prior to filling. Because our Kake Futons are filled with a generous amount of 100% cotton, the futon expands in thickness, which pulls the edges inward. As a result, the finished futon becomes slightly smaller than the original casing, making it difficult to state an exact final size.

Washing
- Do not wash at home. This item is not suitable for home laundering.
- Spot Cleaning: For minor stains, gently dab the area with a damp cloth as soon as possible. Avoid rubbing harshly, as this may cause the color to bleed or fade.
- Professional Cleaning: If deep cleaning is necessary, please consult a professional cleaner specializing in futons or heavy bedding.
Drying
- Sun drying is possible. However, please be aware that dark-colored items may fade if exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods.
Storage
- Store in a well-ventilated area. * Before long-term storage, we recommend drying the item in the sun to remove any lingering moisture.
- Moisture Prevention: Cotton filling is sensitive to humidity. To prevent moisture buildup and mold, do not store in airtight plastic bags. Instead, use a breathable material such as a non-woven fabric bag.
Important Notes on Product
- Handcrafted Quality: Each of our products is handcrafted by skilled artisans—from cutting and sewing to filling and finishing. As a result, there may be slight variations in size, shape, weight, and firmness between individual pieces. We appreciate your understanding of these unique, handmade qualities.
- Natural Wear and Cushioning: Since this product is filled with cotton, the degree of compression over time will vary depending on the frequency of use, the user’s body type, and how the item is handled. Please understand that settling (loss of loft) is a natural characteristic of cotton filling and should be expected over time.
- Static and Fiber Migration: Due to the nature of cotton filling, friction against clothing or other fabrics may cause static electricity. This can occasionally cause fine cotton fibers to work their way through the outer fabric. We appreciate your understanding of this material trait.
This set features a futon and removable cover. To ensure its longevity, please follow these care instructions:

Sizes
Our kake futons are available in three standard Japanese sizes: Single, Semi-Double, and Double.
Traditionally, futon sizes are measured by the dimensions of the outer fabric casing before the cotton filling is added. Accordingly, the sizes listed on our online store refer to the casing dimensions prior to filling, and the completed futon will be slightly smaller once stuffed.

Semi-Double: W170xL210cm
Double: W190xL210cm
Queen: W210xL210cm
Tip: If you are planning to purchase a Shiki Futon as well, we generally recommend choosing the same size for both your Shiki Futon and Kake Futon (e.g., Shiki Futon: Single [100x210 cm], Kake Futon: Single [150x210 cm]).
While there is no strict rule, a properly sized Kake Futon fully covers the Shiki Futon during winter, blocking cold air from seeping in and keeping you warm.
