Noren Curtain - Hikizome
A Touch of Japanese Serenity
A noren is a traditional Japanese split curtain hung across doorways or windows.
Crafted from fine linen and hand-dyed using the traditional brush-dyeing technique known as Hikizome (引き染め), each piece features soft gradations of color and refined depth.
At Takaokaya, relaxation is not only something felt by the body — it is also something to be enjoyed with the eyes. Our Hikizome Noren brings quiet harmony to both space and mind, expressing a unique form of Kangu.
Hang it in a doorway, window, or on a wall to add a subtle Japanese atmosphere to your interior.

Hanging Instructions: Please use a curtain rod or pole with a diameter of 2–3 cm.
Design Detail: The top stitching that holds the two panels together is approximately 28–30 cm long.

Washing:Hand washable with a maximum liquid temperature of 40℃.
Bleaching: Do not bleach.
Drying: Do not tumble dry.
Drying: Line dry in the shade.
Ironing:Iron at a high temperature (Maximum soleplate temperature: 210℃)
Dry Cleaning:Do not dry clean
Wet Cleaning: Very gentle professional wet cleaning is permitted.

Due to natural materials, color fading or shrinkage may occur. Iron while stretching to original shape.

About Hikizome
Hikizome (literally “pull-dyeing,” referring to the motion of drawing a brush across the fabric) is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique in which a bolt of fabric is stretched taut and carefully brushed by hand with layers of water and dye. This method is also known as bokashizome, meaning “gradual shading” or “blur dye.”
Each piece is hand-dyed by skilled artisans, one by one. This careful process embodies the beauty of tradition.
