This product contains cotton filling. To ensure its longevity, please follow these care instructions:
Washing
- Do not wash at home. This item is not suitable for home laundering.
- Spot Cleaning: For minor stains, gently dab the area with a damp cloth as soon as possible. Avoid rubbing harshly, as this may cause the color to bleed or fade.
- Professional Cleaning: If deep cleaning is necessary, please consult a professional cleaner specializing in futons or heavy bedding.
Drying
- Sun drying is possible. However, please be aware that dark-colored items may fade if exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods.
Storage
- Store in a well-ventilated area. * Before long-term storage, we recommend drying the item in the sun to remove any lingering moisture.
- Moisture Prevention: Cotton filling is sensitive to humidity. To prevent moisture buildup and mold, do not store in airtight plastic bags. Instead, use a breathable material such as a non-woven fabric bag.
Important Notes on Product
- Handcrafted Quality: Each of our products is handcrafted by skilled artisans—from cutting and sewing to filling and finishing. As a result, there may be slight variations in size, shape, weight, and firmness between individual pieces. We appreciate your understanding of these unique, handmade qualities.
- Natural Wear and Cushioning: Since this product is filled with cotton, the degree of compression over time will vary depending on the frequency of use, the user’s body type, and how the item is handled. Please understand that settling (loss of loft) is a natural characteristic of cotton filling and should be expected over time.
- Static and Fiber Migration: Due to the nature of cotton filling, friction against clothing or other fabrics may cause static electricity. This can occasionally cause fine cotton fibers to work their way through the outer fabric. We appreciate your understanding of this material trait.

There are not enough stars in the sky to rate Takaokaya Global for their superior service, quality, beauty and authenticity!
I cannot find in the USA anything comparable. It’s such a pleasure and so easy to conduct business with them via email. They are so conscientious and knowledgeable. It’s pretty impressive and most appreciated. I have purchased two shikifutons and two zabuton cushions from them on two separate occasions and all are such a beautiful addition to my rooms.
It’s all so effortless and I cannot thank them enough for everything…from beginning to end. I have to give special mention to Valery who I first spoke with via email about 1.5 years ago when I was looking for shikifuton mattresses. I was uncertain about everything. I wanted her thoughts on the measurements, fabrics /colors. Valery covered every base asking all the right questions so she could offer me her suggestions. She knew. She also helped me to determine the perfect size for my Zabuton cushions just before she left for a few days. I then heard from Nanako who wanted to confirm my choices before submitting the order. I truly appreciated her concern and effort. Such kind people. So genuine.
We love Takaokaya and our shikifutons and zabuton cushions.
Babette, you are too kind for wanting to give us all the stars in the sky and more. We truly appreciate you taking time to leave this review are happy with just the five stars for our product and service. Thank you for the commendation and for remembering the experience you had with me previously.
Please continue to enjoy your cushions and Shiki Futons! Till the next time...
Happy Kutsurogi,
Valery
