I had trouble sleeping for years, I always woke up sore in the morning and didn't feel rested at all. I've had my first futon for a few weeks now and it completely changed my life. It's extra hard and extra soft at the same time (I don't know how that's possible) and provides the perfect support for my back. After just a week of sleeping on the futon my body adjusted to it and I felt rested and no more soreness in the morning for the first time in years. Now I don't feel pain and even have energy to work out! Absolutely love it! Big thanks to everyone at Takaokaya :)

Beautifully designed comforter that has kept me warm throughout the night. My only regret is that I'll eventually have to store it back in the closet once the weather starts getting warmer. Until then, I'll enjoy the restful sleep with it while the temperature remains cold. Thank you!

I was looking for a cushion so that I could sit on my heels in different parts of the house. I started off with one… and it made such a difference (I was using a standard cushion before) that I ordered two more and added Ojamis (also very special) so I could sit for longer. I also use them for back support in regular chairs.

Very happy with Kyoto Basic Sleep Set! Quality of the products is great and we were informed of the timetable of our order in all turns. We also ordered tatamis via Takaokaya. We will be returning customers for sure!

I firstly want to comment on the customer service. For several days, I talked to Valery who helped me determine exactly what I wanted and needed in my futon set, including colors and fabric types. She was very kind and helpful and I feel as though I've made a friend.

I requested extra stuffing for my futon so I got the max option which was + 50% cotton. It is very soft and pillowy as a result, and I hope the earthy hay-like smell of the cotton never fades. This will, however, make it bulkier and harder to move, though not at all impossible on your own. If you only plan on using it on occasion like I do, though, moving it won't be too much of an issue.

The single is a perfect size for one person and a cat or two. I have enjoyed meditating on it at night. It is very cooling and doesn't cause me to feel overheated. Overall, I recommend you shop here for an authentic at-home Japanese experience.

I ordered two Supima cotton covers - one black and one beige. They slip over the top of the futon like a partial pillowcase and don't cover the bottom of the futon, which was unexpected for me. It makes the process of fitting a cover on top of the futon very easy, though. I expect the covers will soften after washes and use, but as they are, they are very smooth and pleasant to the touch.
