Each Tawara Pillow Cover is crafted from fine linen and hand-dyed using the traditional Hikizome (引き染め) brush-dyeing technique, giving it soft, beautiful color gradations and a unique artisanal depth.
Removable, replaceable, and washable, the cover makes it easy to refresh your pillow’s look and feel whenever you like.

This product features a washable cover made by linen. A care label with laundry symbols is sewn inside the cover. Please refer to this label before washing. For a detailed explanation of each symbol, please see the guide below:
Washing:Hand washable with a maximum liquid temperature of 40℃.
Bleaching: Do not bleach.
Drying: Do not tumble dry.
Drying: Line dry in the shade.
Ironing:Iron at a high temperature (Maximum soleplate temperature: 210℃)
Dry Cleaning:Do not Dry cleaning
Wet Cleaning: Very gentle professional wet cleaning is permitted.

Due to natural materials, color fading or shrinkage may occur. Iron while stretching to original shape.

About Hikizome
Hikizome (literally “pull-dyeing,” referring to the motion of drawing a brush across the fabric) is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique in which a bolt of fabric is stretched taut and carefully brushed by hand with layers of water and dye. This method is also known as bokashizome, meaning “gradual shading” or “blur dye.”
Each piece is hand-dyed by skilled artisans, one by one. This careful process embodies the beauty of tradition.

You can choose your cover from two hikizome shades — Kamogawa Blue and Arashiyama Bamboo Green — each inspired by Kyoto’s iconic scenery, from the gentle flow of the Kamo River to the serene paths of the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Enjoy your moments of rest with colors that reflect your personal style.
*The string color is thoughtfully chosen by our craftsmen in an “omakase” style. If you have a specific preference, please feel free to leave a note when placing your order.
