Shiki Futon Mattress and Cover Set - Cotton

I'm so happy I finally decided to get a futon. Never slept better! Shipment was very quick and the quality of the futon is outstanding. My pups love it too and they don't need to use stairs anymore!

Let me begin by expressing my love for Takaokaya as a company... The entire team is so wonderful!! I ordered a custom sized futon and cover set, and was extremely satisfied by the promptness and professionalism with which the individual I was corresponding with displayed. Alex was incredibly thorough, helpful, and expedient in helping me decide what I wanted.

I had wanted a shiki futon for some time, and purchasing one from Takaokaya has been such a great experience that I will happily repeat. After some research, I decided their futons were the most authentic and reliable over time. The cotton filing is so comfortable to sleep on, and I love my cover too. After sleeping on it for a month or so, I realized that it's hard for me to get comfy in traditional western beds anymore! I love how supported I feel sleeping on the ground, and it's so incredibly comfortable.

Buying the shiki futon cover set from Takaokaya has been one of the best decisions I've made recently. I highly recommend their products!

My husband and I are so happy that we bought the Japanese futon set. The quality and care that went into these products are just phenomenal. In a world where products are cheaply made, it is wonderful to see there are makers out there that truly care about creating a good product. The futon itself exceeded my expectations from the website photos. Upon unboxing, there was a slight scent, but after the traditional airing out in the sun—a simple, old-school step—it transformed.

The quality and feel are superb! it’s soft, supportive, and wonderfully comfortable to sleep on. This futon is a fantastic, versatile alternative to a standard mattress.

Quality is a five star review. A perfect stitch on everything. My experience and expectations have been more than met. For people looking for a very thick futon please make a special order. These are average thickness. I use it as a topper on my other futon I ordered from the futon shop in California, which was hard as a rock and uncomfortable. Stay away from them bad service. The service with Takaokaya is wonderful but be patient, time zones are expected to make reply’s a bit more challenging but worth it. A+

We are so pleased with the whole experience of buying our new beds! Starting from the fact that it is a family-run business with great costumer service. We got lots of good advice and communication was clear and quick through the chat!

The shipment was easily arranged according to our needs and it went very quickly!

We got out shikibutons, pillows, covers and tatami mats (which smell so nice!!) yesterday. Everything was perfectly packed... It felt like Christmas in September!

The quality of the fabrics is beautiful. They have great colors and are very soft to the touch. Our first night sleeping on our shikibuton was great. Everything felt fresh, light and soft! So good!

It was also great to regain some space in our bedroom... There is much air there now!

We are coming Tokyo and Kyoto in November and we are so looking forward to visiting your shop!

Was having a very difficult time finding a futon in the US with the same quality as the futon I slept on while traveling in Japan. This sleep set is just what I was hoping for! Dense enough where you have to work a little to lay it down and pick it up, thick enough so you can lay on your side without feeling your shoulder pressing into the floor, and beautiful detailing! So so happy!

One would expect a beautiful high quality product from a century old Kyoto futon maker. It met expectations. The cover has a beautiful pattern. Shipping to Australia was quick and frictionless.

Being use to sleeping on a thick mattresses, I was a bit achey the first 1-2 mornings but am fine now. However, some people might find a futon too thin.

This Shiki Futon Mattress is really good! The cover comes in a beautiful yellow colour (021.Nanohana), like the clothes of old emperors. It's very comfy to sleep on and works well in hot, damp places. The mattress is light, so it's easy to take outside and put in the sun to keep it fresh. One bad thing: the box it came in was broken when it arrived. This wasn't nice for such a good mattress. But overall, it's a great bed that looks good and feels nice to sleep on, especially in warm weather.

I have been searching since I like to woodwork and build my own items with the current state of manufactured goods I have little patience for poor craftsmanship ie Ikea or store bought products in 2024 that come from China. I have seldom seen them to last beyond 6-months of consistent usage.

That aside, Takaokaya and their products have been exactly who I have been looking for. The products I have acquired (Tatami - trifold and squares, and the Shiki Futon) have exceeded even my standards for build quality. I will be returning to their skill set for more products in the future! Kudos to Takaokaya!

I have been looking for futon that meets my expectation since I slept on the floor ten years ago.

I am grateful that I finally come across the name Takaokaya . I am so serious about sleep that I pay a visit to their shop at Kyoto to order futon sets for myself and my husband. I was very impressed with their quality that besides futons , I can’t resist to pamper myself with their ojami cushions and covers , pillow and linen mattress pad .

It’s now a week after receiving our order. With my Takaokaya made to order futons , we need not to compromise between comfort, quality and style . While the futon is fluffy to sleep on, I can feel the cotton inside spring back for support. We slept soundly .

Thanks Takaokaya not only making products, but also relaxation and style for us . The linen mattress pad really helps in such hot and humid Hong Kong weather. The beauty of ojami cushions shines , we find it very functional too.

Besides products’ quality, their service is attentive and exceptional that I would highly recommend.

I am very happy with Shiki Futon and love the weight of the Kake comforter. The 100% cotton feels warm and comfortable. Stitching and zippers on the pillow and covers are meticulously done.
The goods were very well packed and protected when I open the box.
