The Benefit of Buckwheat

The Benefit of Buckwheat

In the past month, Takaokaya has been releasing several new products, specifically buckwheat filled products. This has been an interesting learning experience because Takaokaya has not produced a buckwheat based product before.

For this reason, we here in Takaokaya has also been gathering some information related to buckwheats and their benefits, not only through online research but also through trial and error of our prototypes that we have created.

Today, with this blog post, I would like to share a little bit about the benefits of buckwheats that has gotten us very interested in using them in our products.

There are many benefits to using a buckwheat cushion/pillow, such as:

1. Comfort and Support

One of the most intriguing facts that have been echoed by several sources is the level of support and comfort that were experienced when using buckwheat filled products.

Due to buckwheat hulls' tendency to move around inside the pillow/cushion casing, it allows the buckwheat to properly contours to one's body shape. It is able to fill in the body crevices, providing proper support, and relieving pressure. Which in turn helps the body to maintain a good posture when used.

2. Breathability

Buckwheat is a very breathable material because it can freely move around its cushion/pillow casing it allows a lot of air circulation to happen. This means there is less chance of it retaining temperature, making it a much cooler material than some other fillings that are available.

 3. Environmentally Conscious and Biodegradable

A buckwheat pillow is a good alternative for those who would like to do good for the planet. The buckwheat plant thrives in a low-fertility soil, fertilizing it too much actually reduces the yield of the plant. This means that there will be less risk of overuse of fertilizer that might negatively affect the environment. Also because it is made out of buckwheat hulls it is completely biodegradable.
