"Kyo no Ondokoro" was started by the Wacoal Corporation as part of a CSV project, to preserve Kyoto's traditional landscape and builds a cooperative community by renovating Kyomachiya houses into modern vacation cottages while maintaining their traditional architectural appearance and internal structure.

The Kyo no Ondokoro MARUTAMACHI, situated near the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Marutamachi subway station, was transformed into a space of Art and Beauty for modern living, and designed with women in mind. It has unique furnishings and lighting, a spacious island kitchen, a carbonated spring bath for healthier skin and hair, a large makeup area, and a lounge area for unwinding and chatting.

The lounge area is fitted with Takaokaya round zabutons so that guests can enjoy sipping tea or having a meal and enjoy the Japanese Art of Relaxation (kutsurogi).
