great quality with great nostalgic scent

Goes perfecly with the futon.
The scent of new, fresh tatami that is made of natural materials is my favorite scent. great quality and I love it.

Thanks for the endorsement, Yuki!
The shiki futon and tatami mat really are a perfect combination. The fresh scent of the cotton batting and natural rush grass definitely adds to the whole relaxing experience. We hope you continue to enjoy your new setup for many years to come!

love it!

we ordered 3 tri-fold tatami to place our futons on. they fold easily, smell amazing, and are very comfortable. the quality seems high. they have completely transformed our bedroom into space where we love to hang out, and not just sleep. our toddler loves the "tami" mats too. we read on them, play on them, nap on them, as well as sleep on them every night. so far they seem easy to clean. weekly i vacuum with a gentle hard wood floor vacuum (no bristles, just a roller) and wipe down with a damp cloth. we're very happy.

Thank you for the wonderful review, Megan! We absolutely love that your toddler calls them 'tami' mats! and we're so happy they have transformed your space into a cozy family hangout!
Just one quick pro-tip to help them last as long as possible: we actually recommend using a dry cloth for your weekly wipe-downs. Tatami grass absorbs moisture easily, so a damp cloth can accidentally lead to mold over time! Also, always be sure to vacuum and wipe along the grain of the grass to prevent fraying 😉

Tri-Fold Tatami Mats

Speedy delivery packaged well

Tatami has the smell of hay or grass
Smell didn’t bother me if it does just air outside in the shade

Tatami is springy under foot I want two Tatami’s a double same size as the Shikifuton & a single Tatami to sit next to the double with futon in the middle so you can still see the tatami mats without covering up the beauty of them I want my room to look like a Japanese room

I’m renting so the next place we move to the bedroom might be smaller so that’s why I chose one double & not two double

Luv my tatami mats light weight you can fold up & put away when not used or moving very compact

Will definitely be ordering more stuff from you guys in the future

A very happy customer

Thank you guys 😁👍

Thank you so much, Joanne!
It sounds like your vision for a Japanese-style room is coming along beautifully! Using a double and a single is a very clever, flexible way to style your space!
We really appreciate your support and can’t wait to help you complete your room in the future!
Enjoy that wonderful igusa fragrance! 😁

We love our tatami!

My wife and I recently bought the trifold tatami to go under our futon. It has a lovely grass scent and is easy to move and store during the day. Also excellent customer service and support from Takaokaya! They send us hand written Christmas cards with our order.

Thank you so much for the endorsement, Reed!

Tri-Fold Tatami

It's a very nice Tatami mat, easy to fold and light weight. It's genuine and I can tell that it allows the futon to breathe. It does have a strong smell of grass, though I personally don't mind it. It'll eventually fade but it does take a long while for it to dissipate. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Thank you for your kind review, Anthony!
Glad to hear you're enjoying your tatami mat thus far!
A little tip: take the mat out into the shade during good weather, preferrably with a breeze, for a day or two (not over night). This usually helps mellow out the stronger smells of the igusa :)
Happy Kutsurogi^^
