For years, we offered only the Tawara and Long Pillow — charming but a bit narrow for rolling over or a full night’s sleep. Many of you asked, “Why not a standard pillow?” We listened! Our new standard-size pillow is wider, and made for truly cozy nights.

Each comes as a set with a cover, with two sizes, three fillings, and customizable cover colors. The funnel lets you adjust the stuffing for your perfect comfort. Your dream pillow, just the way you like it!

For years, we only offered the Tawara and Long Pillow — beloved for their traditional charm, but a bit narrow for turning over or a full night’s sleep. Many of you asked, “Why not a standard pillow?” We listened, and here it is: the highly requested standard-size pillow, wider and cozier than ever, made for a truly comfortable night.

Our new Standard Pillow comes in two sizes:
35×50 cm, a compact option for smaller spaces or lighter sleepers, and 43×63 cm, a Japanese standard size for a fuller, traditional feel.

Inner Filling

We have 3 fillings options available.
The hard polyethylene pipe is the original filling which has been a long-time favorite amongst Takaokaya customers who prefer firm pillows.
For those who prefer a softer pillow, choose the soft polyethylene pipe.
If you are looking for fillings that are natural more eco-friendly and has a balance of softness and firmness, we offer buckwheat filling.
