The Zabuton (座布団) is a traditional Japanese cushion with nearly 1000 years of history. Originally, the zabuton indicated high status and was only used by a person of high rank. Today it can be found in most Japanese households.

Our Kyoto Zabuton Cushion is made true to the traditions of our unique city but it also has been adapted to provide greater stability and comfort. The Kyoto Zabuton Cushion has also been gaining popularity for meditation use.

The Ojami cushion is an original cushion developed by Takaokaya over the last decade.

The unique shape is inspired by the ancient Japanese beanbag toy called otedama, or ojami in the Kyoto dialect. Handcrafted by our skilled Kyoto craftsman, Ojami cushions come in a variety of colors, fabrics, and sizes to suit your preference and lifestyle.

Aizome (藍染め) is the Japanese word for indigo dye. The dye is naturally extracted from the leaves of the Indigofera Tinctoria plant, which creates a beautiful indigo shade of blue.

Our Aizome-Fu fabrics with traditional Japanese patterns are meant to replicate that same beautiful look that the indigo dye creates.
